Undergraduate Research Assistants

Undergraduate research assistants play a critical role on the Project DIRECT team. They split their time between providing on-site support to teachers and contributing to the ongoing research efforts of the team. Project DIRECT's undergraduate research assistants frequently engage in independent, mentored research including completing Honors Theses and contributing to presentations at national conferences. Advanced Project DIRECT undergraduate research assistants are eligible to complete their second-tier public service requirement through the Project DIRECT public service independent study.

Project DIRECT prioritizes the professional development of its members. In addition to focusing on ongoing research projects, lab meetings routinely include professional development topics such as Writing a CV, Writing a Personal Statement, Applying to Graduate School, and Job/Graduate School Interviewing. Undergraduate research assistants are successful on the job market and applying to graduate school.
